Best Podcasting Courses

Podcasts have become a regular feature in the lives of so many people and there is a podcast out there for everyone.

Maybe you’ve listened to some podcasts and have decided that you would like to try to make your own.

You may even have a great idea for a podcast but making podcast episodes requires more than just a great idea.

If you’re new to podcasting, it can be daunting to make your own.

There’s not just the technical side of recording and editing the podcast to think about; you also need to know how to launch and promote your podcast with modern digital marketing techniques (also see, ‘Create The Perfect Podcast Launch Plan‘).

Learning how to monetize your podcast can also be important if you aim to turn a podcast into a profitable business.

One of the best ways to learn about podcasting is by taking a podcast training course. These can cover all that you need to know about podcasting in a way that is accessible and easy to understand.

In this article, we will look at the best podcasting courses available. Some of them are free whereas others require payment.

Let’s get started.

#1 Power Up Podcasting

Best Podcasting Courses

This course from Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income podcast covers everything you need to know about podcasting from the beginning of the process to the end.

It begins with the background and theory behind podcasting before it delves into the technical side, such as needed equipment, editing, and recording.

You’ll also learn all about hosting your podcast on its own dedicated site as well as how to submit it to podcast hosts such as Apple Podcasts.

There is an entire section on how to monetize your podcast too, from ads to making your own Patreon.

Power Up Podcasting is one of the most comprehensive educational podcasts out there.

It has all of the information you need but there is no support beyond the course materials so if you have any further questions, there is no place to ask them.

The podcasting course is also very expensive so you may only want to consider this course if you are serious about getting into podcasting.

Price: $799

#2 The Podcast Masterclass: The Complete Guide To Podcasting

podcast masterclass udemy

Hosted at Udemy, the Podcast Masterclass course also aims to cover all that you need to know about starting your podcast production.

It covers all of the important topics that you’d expect for producing podcasts such as editing and tips to get the highest quality recordings but also covers some of the less obvious topics.

With this course, you’ll learn how to tag your podcasts and publish them to all of the typical podcast hosts.

There are also lessons on how to grow your podcast and increase its position in the rankings as well as how to monetize it.

Although this course does cover all of the subjects you need to know, it may not be as in-depth on some of them as you might want.

It’s pretty brief so you can get through it quickly but you may need to source some answers from other places.

Price: $69.99

#3 Produce A High-Quality Video Podcast

Produce A High-Quality Video Podcast

As the name of this course suggests, it’s a little different from the other courses we’ve looked at so far as it focuses more on video podcasts than purely audio recording podcasts.

Although some of the information regarding audio podcasts is still valid for video ones, we would recommend studying a course aimed at videos specifically if this is what you’re aiming for.

There are several lessons focused on your video equipment, from lights to cameras and soundproofing (also see, ‘How To Soundproof a Room For Podcasting‘).

You’ll also learn how to create social media clips from your podcasts and how to publish them. There are also several lessons dedicated to using Riverside which you may find very useful.

The course doesn’t cover marketing or monetization, however.

Price: The course is hosted by Skill Share so this can vary. Your first seven days are free and then you will need a subscription.

#4 Adobe Audition CC Audio Production Course

If you don’t need the full works when it comes to a podcast course and want to focus purely on the editing side, then this course might be the best for you.

It will teach you all you need to know about editing audio in Adobe Audition and will help you make your podcast sound professional.

It’s hosted on Udemy so you can be sure it is easy to navigate and is a quality course.

As well as learning how to record and edit audio for your podcast episode, it’ll also teach you how to use music and jingles to their best effect.

The course goes into great detail on these topics and the various features of Adobe Audition and ventures into more information than you’ll probably need just for podcasting.

As this course is purely about editing and Adobe Audition, it is not suitable if you’re looking for a more comprehensive course or will be using other software.

This course has its own focused niche and covers it well.

Price: $47.99

You’ll learn how to find music for your podcast, create artwork, and how to submit your podcast to popular podcast applications.

If you want a complete course to help support you from an idea to publishing, this is a great course to choose. It won’t make you an expert, but is the perfect starting point for absolute beginners.

#6 Learn How To Start, Grow, And Monetize A Podcast

Learn How To Start, Grow, And Monetize A Podcast

There are many free podcasting courses out there. But this course takes a different approach and format from the other courses on the list.

Instead of being videos or pages of text that you can work through at your own pace, it’s a 10-day course sent over email that breaks down the main aspects of starting a podcast.

As the title of the course suggests, it focuses on starting, growing, and monetizing your podcast.

Starting A Podcast Checklist

However, it also discusses the equipment you’ll need for your podcast, how to brainstorm ideas for episodes, and how to launch and submit your podcast to the necessary platforms.

The course is pretty straightforward and takes a simple approach to launch a podcast so if you’re after something more in-depth and advanced, it might not be for you.

However, for the absolute beginner that needs basic help, it’s a good choice.

#7 Podcaster’s Paradise

podcasters paradise

If you’ve looked at the descriptions of some of these courses and feel like you would benefit from a course that has a community aspect and ongoing support, then Podcaster’s Paradise might be what you’re looking for.

It provides all of the information and tutorials you will need to start your podcast and includes a wide range of templates and resources to help you structure your podcast.

There is a library of video tutorials and monthly Q&A sessions with the site’s founders so you will always find something new to learn.

Podcaster’s Paradise also offers a community where you can connect with other podcasters and discuss your podcasting journey through a private Facebook group.

Podcaster’s Paradise follows a subscription model for its services.

This can be quite expensive for beginners to podcasting but they do offer a 30-day, money back guarantee if you decide it isn’t for you.

If you opt for the annual subscription over the monthly one, you will also get some extras such as a one-to-one strategy call and a professional intro/outro for your podcast.

Price: $97 per month or $997 per year

#8 Podcast Bootcamp

Our last podcast course will tell you all the basics you need to know to launch your own podcast and spreads the information over just five days.

It’s designed as a crash course into podcasting so expect a lot of subjects to be covered in a simple and basic way.

You’ll learn how to start a podcast as well as to plan your content and remain consistent with recording and posting.

There are lessons on how to record and edit your episodes and then how to launch and market your podcast when you’re ready to go.

This course really does aim to just give the basic information that you need so if you want something in-depth or that covers a more advanced podcast topic, you might find the course disappointing.

However, for beginners, it’s great.
