Podcasts For Women

Podcasts first started in 2004 and have become increasingly popular over the past few years.

Many people enjoy podcasts as they are easy to listen to on the go, which many of us constantly are and they cover such a broad range of topics. There is a podcast for just about everything.

Many of us use different streaming services to listen to music, but these also feature podcasts. They are free to listen to but certain services may feature advertisements during the episodes.

As the majority of podcasts don’t follow a particular narrative like a TV series, you can just pick up something that sounds interesting and start listening.

In this article, we’ve listed a bunch of really great podcasts that center around women’s issues, women of the past and general things women can relate to. We hope you enjoy!

#1 The Guilty Feminist

An award-winning comedy podcast and live show hosted by UK comic Deborah Frances-White. The podcast aims to break down issues, hypocrisies and insecurities faced by modern-day feminists each week.

Every episode features different celebrity guests, whom the host encourages to comment on the challenges women face.

If you find yourself wanting more from Deborah and her clan of guilty feminists, she has also released a book which includes unseen interviews and a live tour so you can see the podcast in action.

#2 Stuff You Missed In History Class

If you’re a bit of a history buff or just fancy learning about some super-cool and revolutionary women that changed the world, listen to this podcast with Holly and Tracy.

Although it’s not exclusively about women, the unsung female heroes of the past are the main focus. New episodes are brought out twice a week so there’s plenty to keep you occupied.

For some fun, lighthearted listening without having a boring lecture or too much of a deep dive into history, this is a great podcast to keep you entertained on a long journey or around the house.

#3 Stuff Mom Never Told You

Two friends from Atlanta, Anney and Samantha host the podcast ‘Stuff Mom Never Told You’. This inclusive podcast includes issues that affect anyone who identifies as a female. With nearly 2,000 episodes already recorded, there’s plenty to get you started.

The show centres around women and women’s issues such as mental health, body image, body politics and career problems. There is a scattering of mini-episodes which focus on different categories such as ‘Women Around The World’.

With experts and Book Club episodes, there really is something for everyone with this podcast.

Topics can range from anything like health and education to the environment and the economy.

Once a week you can find these in-depth conversations online alongside a number of guests from a variety of different professions who weigh in on the relevant topic.

Many consider the podcast to be a great source of news for Black women and other women of color in the U.S.

#5 Poog

Although it may sound like an odd name for a podcast, this hilarious mix of comedy and wellness hosted by best friends and comedians Kate and Jacqueline will have you reaching for the tissues.

The premise of the podcast focuses on the pair trying out wellness products and practices, chatting with experts and healers to find out if the industry is just a fad.

Each hour-long episode tackles the host’s ideas of absurdity regarding the billion-dollar wellness industry. You can find a different strand of wellness explored each week, so before you buy that new cream, why not have a listen to Poog.

The chemistry and genuine friendship seen between the pair is what makes the podcast so successful and entertaining.
